Since 1994, Canby Learning Tree and Little Explorers Preschool have been a pillar of childcare in Canby. We offer an enriching full-day experience built on the belief that children learn best through a blend of free play and meaningful, teacher-guided projects. Our nurturing environment encourages every child to grow at their own pace, free from competition or comparison, while being gently challenged to explore new ideas and skills. We take our cues from the children themselves, following their curiosity into a wide range of themes, from rockets and rainforests, to fairy tales and car engines. The result is a program where wonder leads the way.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you offer tours? Are tours required before enrolling?
Do you serve meals?

Food prepared at the center is properly planned, prepared and portioned according to the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and state requirements for food service. Families may also bring food from home. If your child has a food allergy, please notify us in writing so we can make appropriate accommodations.

What's the best way to contact my child's teacher?

Using our all-in-one childcare app, Playground! During registration, our director will help you download and install the app. Via this secure app, teachers will send you updates and photos of your child throughout the day. If you have an immediate need, you can always call us as well.

What is your potty training policy?

Children under 24 months of age are not required to be potty trained prior to enrollment at Canby Learning Tree or Little Explorers. Parents must provide diapers and wipes as applicable. Our staff will happily support you in the toilet learning process. We are committed to working with you to make sure that toilet learning is carried out in a manner consistent with your child's physical and emotional abilities and your family's concerns.

Toilet learning is approached collaboratively between our staff and your family. We will communicate regularly about your child's progress and work together to ensure a supportive and consistent experience both at home and at our center. Please speak with our director if you have questions about our potty training support.

What are your class sizes and age groupings?

Canby Learning Tree and Little Explorers serve children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Our classroom groups are organized by age to maintain appropriate child-to-staff ratios in accordance with state licensing requirements.

Our infant classrooms (children under 24 months) maintain a 1:4 staff-to-child ratio with a maximum group size of 8 children per room.

TESTIMONIALS

“Our daughter was 2 when she started and there was not one day in her time there which was not filled with fun and laughter, singing and dancing, learning and problem solving, imagining castles and dragon caves, cooking and experimenting, doing art the nice and the messy way, playing inside and out, no matter what the weather was.”

KATRIN

“My 3 year old daughter has been attending for over a year. The teachers are top notch, and most importantly - they really care for the kids. Amazing art projects, tons of outside time. They exceed my expectations on a regular basis."”

KARRI

“We brought our share of challenges to school and the staff remained undaunted. Additionally they made it clear that they would work as a team with us; we did not feel that there was risk of being dismissed if things were not going smoothly. When our daughter was going through a very tough period of months they helped guide us through an MECP evaluation which led to a diagnosis and support that has continued into elementary school and has been invaluable.”
